Nominees sought for 2011 Technology Innovation Awards
BINGHAMTON, NY – The Southern Tier Opportunity Coalition (STOC) and the Small Scale Systems Integration and Packaging Center (S3IP) at Binghamton University announce a call for nominees for the 2011 Technology Innovation Awards.
The Annual Technology Innovation Awards program honors technology leaders from the Southern Tier of NYS. Nominations are currently being accepted for awards in the following categories:
1) Technology Innovation Leader of the Year: This recognition is awarded to an individual who has shaped the technology community through leadership in the areas of electronic systems integration and packaging, energy-efficient electronics, flexible electronics, solar energy and advanced materials and sensors which have had a significant impact on the industry.
2) Technology Innovation Entrepreneur of the Year: This recognition is awarded to an individual who has contributed to the development of the technology economy through the formation of new businesses, generation of wealth and exemplifying the risk-taking entrepreneurial spirit.
3) Technology Innovation Mentor/Educator of the Year: This recognition is awarded to an individual who has shaped the technology community by championing STOC and S3IP visions of technology innovation, as well as by offering their time, expertise and knowledge networks in support of individual technology companies and/or other technology-based educational initiatives.
Nominees must be drawn from the STOC region, namely Broome, Tioga, Cortland, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego and Chemung counties. All nominations must be accompanied by a one-page write-up, including the award category, nominee name with contact information, and a summary matching the specific award criteria to the candidate’s accomplishments. A full resume for the nominee must also be included.
Nominations must be received no later than 5 p.m. Oct. 14, 2011.

A committee made up of STOC and S3IP representatives will review the nominations. Awardees will be recognized at the S3IP annual dinner on Nov. 19, 2011 and will also be highlighted on the STOC and S3IP web sites.
