Rebecca Benner named campaign director at Binghamton University
Rebecca A. Benner has been named campaign director at Binghamton University, State University of New York.
In her new role, Benner will be responsible for providing management and direction for Binghamton University's second comprehensive gifts campaign. She will coordinate all campaign activities, including meetings, events, communications, and campaign operations.
Benner’s career began in 1987 with Illinois State University’s Division of Student Affairs. In 1993, she joined the Division of University Advancement’s information systems area. Moving up the ranks, Benner served as assistant director of advancement services and in 1999 was named director of advancement services. In the fall of 2001, she was named assistant campaign director, moving Illinois State through its first comprehensive campaign, which raised more than $96 million.
Benner’s background includes experience working with campaign planning, database operations, foundation accounting, prospect management and research, donor relations and annual fund. In addition, her management responsibilities have included the supervision of professional staff, budget creation and analysis, strategic planning and policy development.
Benner graduated summa cum laude from Illinois State University in 1983 with a degree in geography and, in 2001, received her master’s degree in sociology.
