Fundraiser to aid the Binghamton University Liberty Partnership Program
A fundraiser for the Binghamton University Liberty Partnership Program (LPP) will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 23, in the Helen Foley Theatre at Binghamton High School.
The event will include student performances, poetry readings and a musical performance by Trilogy, comprised of Binghamton University faculty members Timothy Perry, Margaret Reitz and Steven Stalker. The event will also feature remarks from Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo and a live auction conducted by Chip Hunt of Midtown Antiques.
The Liberty Partnership Program, hosted by the School of Education and Human Development at Binghamton University, assists middle and high school students through mentoring, tutoring, social and cultural enrichment activities and counseling. The Binghamton City School District has participated in the Program since 1989.
The Liberty Partnership Program annually serves 230 at-risk youth, grades 5-12, with academic support, counseling, enrichment and community service activities that enables students to overcome disadvantages and succeed in school. In sixteen years of operation, hundreds of student participants have successfully graduated from high school, entered college and, subsequently, graduated from various institutions, such as Binghamton University.
