New associate vice president for administration appointed at
Binghamton, NY - Leonard V. Kogut, senior associate controller at University of Kentucky, has been named associate vice president for administration at Binghamton University, State University of New York.
In making the announcement, James Van Voorst, Binghamton University’s vice president for administration, noted that Kogut was selected from a deep pool of highly qualified candidates.
“We wanted a person who will take into account where we’ve been as we look at where we’re going,” he added. “Breadth of experience is important and Len’s background and campus activities position him well to help us move ahead with a number of initiatives.”
At the University of Kentucky, Kogut served as senior associate controller with direct oversight of accounts payable, benefit financial management, financial systems and payroll.
Before that, he was controller for Western Kentucky University, where he oversaw accounting and purchasing functions, as well as payroll and tax compliance, the bursar, risk management, shipping and receiving and inventory control. He also worked as internal auditor, business office manager and auxiliary enterprises director for Ferris State University.
Kogut holds a doctorate in college and university administration from Michigan State University, an MBA from Central Michigan University and a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Ferris State University. A certified public accountant and certified internal auditor, he has wide university fiscal and auxiliary service as well as auditing experience at Ferris State and Western Kentucky universities and the University of Kentucky.
Kogut is a member of the National Association of College and University Business Officers, the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers, Kentucky Public Universities Business Officers, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Internal Auditors.
