Binghamton University, Broome Community College to host financial aid workshop
Binghamton University and Broome Community College will host a financial aid workshop at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 4, in Lecture Hall 10 on the University campus. The workshop is free and open to the public.
The workshop is being held in support of SUNY Statewide Financial Aid Day. Binghamton University and Broome Community College will join over 25 campuses in participating in the event.
Financial aid experts from Binghamton University and BCC will be on hand to answer questions and provide assistance with applications, types of aid available and the award process. “This is an important opportunity for families to learn about the financial aid process and financing options. Often families assume that they may not be eligible for financial aid, when there are programs that can help them,” said Patricia Shaw, associate director of Student Services and Operations at Binghamton University.
Representatives from the Educational Talent Search, a federally funded educational opportunities program, will provide tips on completing the 2006 –2007 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), a form required for all financial aid. They will also present information about the New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). Families planning to attend should bring their 2004 or 2005 tax returns, bank statements and 2004 untaxed income statements.
