Photo-text exhibit celebrates families of many kinds
An exhibit that celebrates families of all kinds will be on display November 9 through to November 23 in and around the offices of Binghamton University’s Human Development Division, located on the ground floor of the Academic B building on the campus. An opening reception for the In Our Family exhibit has been scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9. The reception and the exhibit are free and open to the public.
In Our Family is a 20-piece touring photo-text exhibit created by Family Diversity Projects, a non-profit organization devoted to educating the public about issues related to the diversity of family life. With interviews by Peggy Gillespie and Rebekah Boyd, and photos by Gigi Kaeser, the exhibit highlights families of many kinds including adoptive families, foster families, multiracial families, single-parent families and lesbian and gay-parented families. Each family photograph is accompanied by words of parents and children in these families who speak candidly about life, revealing the common threads that bind them together: love.
The exhibit is sponsored by Binghamton University's School of Education and Human Development faculty Sally Dear and Sean Massey, in cooperation with a host of University offices and departments.
