“Healthcare Reform: Setting up the Next Debate” topic of Harpur Forum


 James Tallon, president of the United Hospital Fund of New York and member of the New York State Board of Regents, will discuss “Healthcare Reform: Setting up the Next Debate” on Friday, March 28, at the Harpur Forum breakfast to be held at the Binghamton Club in downtown Binghamton.

Tallon is a nationally respected health care policy leader known for his dedication to improving the quality of health care and insurance coverage for the nation’s most vulnerable individuals.  The uninsured, low-income Americans, racial and ethnic minorities, children and frail elders are a key focus of his work.

Tallon has played a critical role is shaping New York health care policy as a representative of Binghamton and parts of the Broome County area in the New York Assembly; he chaired the health committee for 8 years and was Majority Leader for 6 years.

After joining the United Hospital Fund of New York as its president, he addressed critical issues affecting hospitals and health care in New York City. The United Hospital Fund of New York is the oldest federated charity in the nation.

Tallon chairs the Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured and is secretary/treasurer of the Alliance for Health Reform.

Breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m. and Tallon’s discussion will commence at 8:00 a.m.
