Binghamton University hosts 25th anniversary Odyssey of the Mind program
Binghamton University will host the Odyssey of the Mind New York state final tournament on Saturday, March 19. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the New York Odyssey of the Mind program.
Competition begins at 8 a.m. in various locations on the University campus including the Mandela Room, the East and West Gyms, the Watters Theater and the Events Center. The founder of the Odyssey program, Sam Micklus, will be on hand to meet teams from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the University Union West (Old Union) near the information booth and from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Events Center lobby.
The program’s mascots, Omar the Odyssey of the Mind raccoon and Snyps the super New York Problem Solver beaver, will be roaming the campus to meet and greet teams.
The Odyssey state tournament will close with a special 25th anniversary ceremony beginning at 7 p.m. in the Events Center. Former New York state directors from the region including Diane Brady, Mary Waskie, Jan Resch, Carolyn Bender and Wayne Otte will be recognized for their contributions to the Odyssey program. In addition, awards and trophies will be presented to the champion teams.
