Binghamton University hosts Adventure-Based Practice workshop
Binghamton University and the Union-Endicott school district will hold an Adventure-Based Practice (ABP) workshop at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, March 24, in room 133 of the Binghamton University Union.
ABP is a form of experimental education which ingrates outdoor activities with problem solving initiatives to effect change both individually and as a group. The workshop will offer an introduction to the theories and philosophy of ABP from leading adventure therapist Christian Itin.
Itin’s research and years of experience has received international attention. He has worked with educators and mental health professionals throughout the world, designing and implementing programs for various groups including corporate managers, community leaders and adolescents. Participants will receive hands on training while learning exercises used in ABP. They will also hear from community members who are utilizing ABP.
The workshop costs $25.00 for students and $35.00 for professionals. The deadline for registration is Friday, March 4.
