Binghamton University Crew Club to host the annual McKenna Memorial Run


 BINGHAMTON, NY -- The Binghamton University Crew Club will host the second annual John McKenna Memorial 5K run on Saturday, March 15, at Recreation Park in Binghamton. McKenna, a Binghamton graduate and member of the Crew Club from 1994-1998, was killed in combat during his third tour with the U.S. Marines, in Iraq.

All proceeds will benefit the John McKenna Memorial Fund, which supports the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund and the NYS Trooper Scholarship Fund.  Funds raised will also assist the Crew Club in their plans to purchase a boat to be named the McKenna.

The deadline to pre-register is March 8.  The cost is $10 and includes a t-shirt. Registration forms can be found online at  Race day registration costs $15 and begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at Race Time.  A children's fun run is scheduled for 9 a.m., a 5K at 9:30 and an awards ceremony is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
