Art Museum to hold free workshop

2003-03-11

Binghamton University’s Art Museum will hold a free workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, March 14, to help teachers of all grade levels and disciplines discover how to use the museum’s collection and staff as a resource in their schools.

Art Museum staff will offer tours of the museum and explain how to create thematic tours that can link topics studied in the classroom with the museum’s collection. Information will also be made available about the museum’s “art in a suitcase” outreach project in which original artifacts are taken to local schools. Each classroom presentation is structured around the school’s curriculum and involves a discussion session as well as hands-on activities.

The program is sponsored by the Art Museum’s Department of Education. To register or for more information about the workshop or the museum’s programs, call 607-777-2634.
