McClure named CEA NY President
William McClure, program director for continuing education and outreach at Binghamton University, was recently named president of the Continuing Education Association of New York (CEA NY) at the association’s annual conference. McClure will serve for a two-year term.
CEA NY is the professional association for all continuing educators from New York State public universities and colleges (SUNY and CUNY). There are over 80 institutional members and over 400 professional members from across the state. CEA NY’s goals are to provide an exchange of information, ideas and successful program models; to provide technical assistance and resource sharing; to help strengthen and improve the quality of public continuing education programs in New York State; to interact with elected officials and other continuing education associations; and to encourage and facilitate professional development.
In his role at the University, McClure has developed a wide variety of professional development programs aimed at enhancing on-the-job skills and expertise. The programs have experienced significant growth under his leadership. He has taught business courses at four different colleges, including the European Division of the University of Maryland in Stuttgart, Germany, and the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California. McClure was a senior career officer in the United States Air Force. His master’s degrees are in education and business administration. He is the recipient of several regional and national continuing education awards.
