2009-04-28

BINGHAMTON, NY -- The Binghamton University Evolutionary Studies Program will present “The Drive to Love and Who We Choose,” given by Helen E. Fisher, Research Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Rutgers University.  The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will take place at 7p.m. Tuesday, May 5 in the Watters Theater located in the Fine Arts Building on the University campus.

Fisher is widely known for her books about the evolution of human love and sexuality.  She has written five books on the evolution and future of human sex, love, marriage, gender differences in the brain, and the chemistry of romantic love.  Her most recent book, entitled “Why Him? Why Her? Finding Real Love by Understanding Your Personality Type,” discusses human personality and why we fall in love with one person rather than another.

Fisher serves as chief scientific advisor to the dating site Chemistry.com, a division of Match.com, which she has used to develop a scientific database of mate choice and romantic behavior.  She is a frequent guest on television shows such as 20/20 and The View.
