2010-03-19

BINGHAMTON, NY – Health economist Mark Pauly, will present a lecture titled “Why is health care so difficult to reform?” on Friday, March 26, at the Binghamton University’s Anderson Center.  The event, which begins at 3:30 p.m., is free and open to the public.

Mark Pauly is the Bendheim Professor of Health Care Systems, Business and Public Policy, Insurance and Risk Management, and Economics, at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is the co-editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Health Care Finance and Economics, and has been featured on National Public Radio.

The lecture will highlight the pros and cons of health care reform, including such topics as the role of a public option, the sustainability of individual insurance reform, and employer mandates.

The Peter N. Vukasin Lectureship in Economics has been endowed by Dr. Harold Cohen ’59 and Jo Cohen in honor of Vukasin, dean emeritus of Harpur College from 1967 – 1974.
