World-renowned chef to showcase flavors of Southeast Asia at Binghamton University
BINGHAMTON, NY – Mai Pham, a world-renowned Thai and Vietnamese Chef, restaurant owner and author, will present a cooking demonstration and book signing from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 6, at Binghamton University’s Hinman Dining Hall. This event is open to the public.
Pham, chef and owner of the nationally acclaimed Lemon Grass restaurant in California, has authored cookbooks such as Pleasures of the Vietnamese Table and The Best of Vietnamese and Thai Cooking. She is also a guest instructor for the Culinary Institute of America, and has led culinary tours to Vietnam to study its cuisine with the help of local village cooks, wok chefs, and spice merchants. Pham’s work has been featured on NPR and CNN.
For the cooking demonstration, Pham will be joined by Binghamton University Sodexo Chef John Enright, Lemoyne College Executive Chef Drew D’Angelo, and SUNY Oneonta Executive Chef Bill O’Donnell. Meat and vegetarian foods to be prepared include lemongrass chicken, jasmine rice, Bangkok beef, ginger tofu and vegetable stir-fry, and fresh mango with sweet rice.
