University takes second in commissioner's cup
Binghamton University enjoyed its best overall athletics season in its five-year Division I tenure, finishing second in the 2005-06 America East Stuart P. Haskell Jr. Commissioner’s Cup. The competition rewards conference members for success during the regular season and championship competition in the 22 America East sports.
Boston University won the competition with 365 points. Binghamton (328) edged out Albany (325) for second place.
The Bearcats crowned one conference champion (volleyball) and had five more runners-up (men’s soccer, men’s swimming, men’s tennis, women’s tennis and golf).
Binghamton has made a meteoric rise in the standings in the last four years. In 2002-03, the school’s first full year of conference competition, the Bearcats placed ninth. The school jumped up to fourth in the 2003-04 standings and now has moved up one spot in each of the last two years.
