PEC’s luncheon scheduled Nov. 14
The Professional Employees Council will hold its 10th annual Fall Constituency Luncheon at noon Wednesday, Nov. 14, in the Old Union Hall.
This event provides PEC an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions its constituents make to Binghamton University. During the luncheon, two constituents – one with more than five years of service and one with fewer than five years of service – will receive certificates and a monetary award acknowledging their contributions. This year’s honorees are Cynthia Altmansberger and Thomas Hanford.
Professionals who wish to attend the luncheon should RSVP by Nov. 1 to Sharon Santobuono at firstname.lastname@example.org. Tickets are $4; send a check made out to Sodexho to the attention of Santobuono in the Watson School.
Annual Hand to Heart holiday drive planned
Hand to Heart, a joint project of Residential Life, the Salvation Army and the Children’s Home, provides holiday gifts to needy children in the Binghamton area.
Participants choose to fill a gift bag for a boy or girl under 16 years old. Sign up by Tuesday, Nov. 6, in the residence halls, Residential Life area offices or department offices for as many bags as you would like. Gifts may include clothes, toys, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, chapstick, bubble bath, shampoo, socks, gloves, mittens, hats, etc. Keep in mind the cost of replacement batteries for toys, or film and developing for cameras, may not fit in the budget of someone receiving a bag. Items should be new and in the original packaging. Do not wrap any items and do not include any food. The drop-off deadline is Wednesday, Dec. 5, to Residential Life in Tuscarora-213 or to one of the area Residential Life offices.

SEFA Campaign passes 40 percent mark
The 2007 State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) has surpassed 40 percent of its $65,000 goal. As of Oct. 18, $27,212 had been pledged to the campaign by 166 donors. At the same time last year, 146 donors had pledged $22,606.
Along with the United Way, SEFA provides support for national and international service agencies, state, national and international environmental organizations and about dozens of community health and human service agencies in Broome County.
Donations can be directed to specific agencies, and individuals who donate a minimum of $75, or just $3 per paycheck, before Dec. 7 will have their names entered into a drawing for $50 gift certificates donated by the President’s Office. SEFA donations can be made by cash, check or payroll deduction. For more information, contact Bobbi Hardman at email@example.com. Send donations to Katie Ellis, Communications and Marketing, AD-141.
