SOM announces case competition winners

Students Lauren Bady, Alana Golden, Jeremy Coquinco and Kevin Strumwasser took top honors in the School of Management’s second undergraduate case competition. The annual competition brings together SOM undergraduate students for a test of their skills in the analysis and presentation of business cases.

Fifteen teams of students were given the same business case to review and, after a week of preparation, participated in first-round judging. Three teams were then selected to move forward to the final round on April 14, when a panel of judges selected from the business community evaluated finalists’ presentations.

Judges were Mark Knaul, station manager for Airborne Express; Joseph Barbuto, director of sales at Maines Paper & Food Services; Stephen Raube-Wilson, executive director of the Binghamton Philharmonic; and Richard D’Attilio, executive director of the Broome County Industrial Development Agency.

In selecting the winning team, judges considered three factors: content of the presentation, delivery and communication skills, and how well the team handled follow-up questions. The winning team was awarded a $500 prize.
