Mideast expert to discuss Israel, Palestine

Michael Walzer, political philosopher and professor at the Institute of Advanced Study at Princeton University will present a lecture "The Four Wars of Israel/Palestine" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, in the Chamber Hall of the Anderson Center. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Walzer has been a faculty member at Princeton's Institute of Advanced Study since 1980. One of the world's leading political theorists, he is the author of more than a dozen books, including several that have become well-known publications within his field. Among Walzer's most significant and influential works are Just and Unjust Wars (1977), Spheres of Justice (1983), Exodus and Revolution (1985) and On Toleration (1997).

A co-editor of Dissent magazine and a contributing editor of the New Republic, Walzer is an active participant in public debates on key issues of domestic and foreign policy. A frequent visitor to Israel and a member of the board of governors of the Hebrew University, Walzer received an honorary doctorate from Tel Aviv University in 2003. He is editing a four-volume work on The Jewish Political Tradition, two volumes of which have already been published by Yale University Press.
