Track team sets school records at meets
Quiller placed sixth in the heptathlon with a school-record total of 4,749 points. Murnane broke her own school record in the mile with a time of 5:05.92. She finished 12th in that event. Tassler won the 60 hurdles at West Point in a time of 8.02 seconds. She was also second in the 200 (26.33).
Including Friday’s first day at the Penn State National Open, the track teams set five total school records this past weekend. Sophomore hurdler Adam Goldberg (New Rochelle) set a school record in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 8.48. He eclipsed the previous mark by just 1/100th of a second. Quiller established that mark last week at the Cornell Challenge. Junior Mike Ksionzyk (Olean) finished seventh out of 40 in the pole vault with a leap of 15-3.
Binghamton’s other first-place finisher for the weekend was sophomore Erica Angel (Poughkeepsie), who captured the 5,000 at West Point (18:59.3). Junior Lindsay Bohrer-Yardley (Oneida) placed second in that same event (18:59.5), while senior Lisa Kemmerer (Bethlehem, Pa.) was third (19:15.1). Also at West Point, junior Willa Payne (Sidney) tied for second in the 60 hurdles (9.4), senior Patti Hong (Great Neck) was third in the high jump (5-0) and sophomore Kate Williams (Liverpool) was third in the pole vault (10-0).
At the Penn State National Open, sophomore Luke Shafer (Penfield) and junior Nick Tillman (Binghamton) tied for eighth in the high jump.
