Inside BU has new staff
Rachel Coker, former deputy metro editor at the Press & Sun-Bulletin in Vestal, holds a masters degree in journalism from Columbia University and a bachelors degree from the University of Rochester.
Coker, 30, says she hopes to attract readers with lively articles focusing on interesting people, events and research on campus. “Ive already m
et some amazing students and professors,” she said, “and I look forward to telling their stories.” Coker, who is fluent in French, enjoys traveling, folk music and cooking. She and her husband live in Apalachin with their daughter and three cats.
Jonathan Cohen, who has been working as a photojournalist for nearly 10 years for various newspapers and magazines, holds a bachelor of fine arts degree from the Un
iversity of Connecticut. Until recently he worked for The Courier, a 20,000-circulation daily newspaper based in Houma, La., about 50 miles southwest of New Orleans.
Cohen, 31, is a former college football player who enjoys swimming and skiing. He lives in Binghamton.
“I am very glad to be here at Binghamton,” he said, “and I look forward to photographing campus life and sharing my knowledge with students.”
