Baltimore team drafts soccer star

Senior back Graham Munro of Scotland was selected by the Baltimore Blast in the third round of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) college draft earlier this month. He is the first player from Binghamton to be selected in the MISL’s annual event.

“Graham has had an outstanding college career and we are happy to have the opportunity to draft him,” Baltimore Blast General Manager Kevin Healey said. “We look forward to him having the same success on the professional level as he did in college.”

Following his senior season, Munro was named third-team All-America by College Soccer News. He is the first Binghamton player to be named All- America since the

program moved to the Division I level before the 2002 season.

Munro, a three-time America East Defender of the Year, ranked fourth for the Bearcats this season with five goals and 10 points. He was named firstteam all-conference in each of his four seasons at Binghamton.

Munro played for the Binghamton team that won the 2003 America East soccer championship and was the runner up in 2004 and 2005. Binghamton advanced to the second round of the 2003 NCAA Tournament and has been nationally ranked by both the NSCAA and College Soccer News the past two seasons.

Munro, who was the third overall defender to be drafted, will report to training camp in late September or early October.
