Faculty, staff campaign under way
The Faculty and Staff Campaign, an initiative of the Binghamton University Foundation, kicked off this week. Campus volunteers will soon be approaching colleagues to ask them to donate or increase their contributions to the annual campaign that provides flexible, unrestricted dollars to the University.
Donors can direct their gifts to where the need is greatest, to one of 14 funds that support the schools, Anderson Center, Art Museum, athletics, campus enhancement, Libraries, research and technology and Student Affairs or to another area if desired.
“These gifts enable the University to take advantage of unexpected opportunities,” said Cathy Williams, director of the Binghamton Fund. “They let us respond to opportunities that serve the greatest needs and that often arise unexpectedly.”
Gifts to the campaign make a powerful, immediate and essential difference at the University every day, Williams said. “They can provide for items such as travel money for students to attend conferences, funds to bring alumni back to campus to speak and support for research and salary enhancements to recruit or retain faculty.”
Donors can make gifts through payroll deduction, check, credit card or electronic funds transfer, but also through gifts of securities or bequests.
“We hope for increased participation for this year’s campaign,” Williams said. “Every gift is important.”
