Professional Development Fair is May 20
The University’s first Professional Development Fair will take place from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at the Events Center.
“The whole idea is to showcase professional development opportunities from exhibitors on and off campus so employees can get an idea of what’s out there,” said Sylvia Hall of the University Center for Training and Development.
The event, co-sponsored by the center and the Professional Development Committee, will feature 20 booths with participants such as Empire State College, Broome-Tioga BOCES, Broome Community College, Continuing Education and Outreach and the Professional Employees Council.
Sodexho will offer healthy cooking demonstrations. The Decker School of Nursing will offer blood pressure checks and information on managing stress.
Representatives from Human Resources will offer information on tuition assistance as well as retiree benefits.
“Our goal is to help people understand there’s stuff you can do for yourself,” Hall said.
Exhibits will be set up on the concourse at the Events Center and shuttle bus transportation will be available from points around campus, the UDC and the ITC, Hall said.
The snack bar will be open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. so participants may purchase refreshments.
