Lecture Hall upgrade planned for 2010

A major upgrade of the Lecture Hall’s concourse is planned for summer 2010.

The design concept is aimed at enhancing the University’s commitment to sustainability by bringing the colors and textures of nature indoors. The northwest (winter), northeast (spring), southwest (fall) and southeast (summer) will feature colors appropriate for the seasons. Lighted, recycled, resin panels illustrating the seasons will also be included. Windows, flooring, seating, bulletin boards and signage will be replaced.

“The whole idea for the project stems from the need to continue to blend critical maintenance with the desire to increase the campus quality of work life and enhance the general environment, both indoors and outdoors,” said Larry Roma, associate vice president for facilities management.  “We are doing our absolute best to ‘raise the bar,’ so to speak, by virtue of our project deliveries by adding as much value as possible.”

Work is also planned on some of the Lecture Hall rooms that have not been renovated recently, but details for this are still in design. The concourse work is planned to take place in two phases so that some of the facility remains available for use.

“We recognize that these projects are often times inconvenient and disruptive and we hope to reward the building users’ patience and understanding by unveiling project results that are mutually beneficial as well as something we all can be proud of for years to come,” Roma said.
