Ceremony to announce Binghamton University LEED certification

Binghamton University will be awarded LEED certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) during a ceremony at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 29, in the Windham Hall Great Room, located in the Mountainview College community on the University campus.

Binghamton University President Lois B. DeFleur will be joined by representatives from architectural and engineering firms, as well as officials from the Dormitory Authority of New York State and the USGBC.

LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a nationally recognized standard set by the USGBC for designing, constructing and operating energy-efficient, high-performance buildings. The system serves to protect and save precious natural resources while also making good economic sense. LEED also verifies environmental performance, occupant health and financial return.
