Pretty Lights, Wale and Big Gigantic kick-off Binghamton University's Homecoming events
BINGHAMTON, NY – Performing artists Pretty Lights, Wale and Big Gigantic are set to kick-off Binghamton University’s Homecoming celebrations at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, in the Events Center.
Pretty Lights, also known as Derek Vincent Smith, is an electronic music artist fresh off a sold-out 2010 North American tour, including two performances at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. Extending his success into 2011, Pretty Lights has already headlined at music festivals such as Bonnaroo, Camp Bisco, the Governor’s Ball and Austin City Limits.
Wale, the self-proclaimed “Ambassador of Rap for the Capital,” is a rapper who hails from Washington, D.C. After rising to prominence with his 2006 song, “Dig Dug (Shake It),” Wale released his debut album, “Attention Deficit,” in 2008, peaking at #2 on Billboard’s Top Rap Albums, with such hits as “Chillin’,” which featured Lady Gaga. His second album, “Ambition.” is to be released in November.
Big Gigantic is an electronic duo composed of saxophonist/producer Dominic Lalli and drummer Jeremy Salken. By combining vibrant jazz melodies and pulsating dance beats, Big Gigantic has made a profound impact on the jamtronica landscape since their conception in 2008.
