Sodexo at Binghamton University named NYSARC Business of the Year
BINGHAMTON, NY – Sodexo Campus Services at Binghamton University has been named the 2011 NYSARC Central Region Employer of the Year. The award, presented on Oct. 21 at the NYSARC’s annual convention, recognizes Sodexo ‘s commitment to working with employees with disabilities and its innovative work-study program with local high schools.
Ellen Brown, a 22-year employee with Sodexo at Binghamton University, was also recognized for her service to the campus. Brown was placed with Sodexo through a program with local school districts that provides opportunities for intellectually and developmentally disabled students. On average, Sodexo at Binghamton University employs about 20 employees per year who have been referred from local school districts.
Sodexo was also recognized for hosting on-campus fall and spring dinners for the elderly and disabled from facilities in Endicott, Endwell, Johnson City, and Binghamton. A 10-year tradition on the Binghamton University campus, the dinners are prepared by Sodexo and served by Binghamton University student volunteers.
