Binghamton University hosts internationally renowned Middle East journalist
Internationally syndicated journalist and author Rami Khouri will deliver a talk “Spreading Democracy or Chaos? A Critical Arab View of America and the Middle East,” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, in the Chamber Hall of the Anderson Center at Binghamton University. The event is free and open to the public.
Khouri is the executive editor of the Beirut, Lebanon-based The Daily Star, the largest English-language newspaper published throughout the Middle East in partnership with the International Herald Tribune.
Khouri, a Palestinian-Jordanian who was educated in the Middle East and the United States, was recently appointed director of the Issam Fares Institute of Public Policy and International Affairs at American University of Beirut. His commentary and articles center on the broad range of roles played by the Middle East and its culture, politics and religion worldwide.
This event is sponsored by the dean of Harpur College, the Global Studies Workshop, the departments of English, Sociology, Comparative Literature, Africana Studies, Art History, Middle Eastern and North African Studies, Philosophy, Interpretation and Culture Graduate Program, the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies, Women’s Studies, Russian and East European Studies Program, the Binghamton University Convocations Committee, and the Pipe Dream.
