Binghamton University celebrates Earth Day 2008

Students, faculty and staff at Binghamton University will celebrate Earth Day 2008 with a zero waste festival from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at the Dickinson Amphitheater.  Activities, which include food, music and environmental education, are free and open to the public.

During the celebration, attendees will have a chance to take part in discussions on the environment, a talk on backyard composting and other environmental displays.  A hybrid vehicle will also be on display, as well as “green” products purchased from local stores, recycled retail items such as plastic t-shirts, license plate purses, water bottles and travel mugs.

Used sneakers/shoes, which will later be recycled and used for other purposes, can also be dropped off during the event.

Events are sponsored by the Office of Recycling and Resource Management, NYPIRG, the Food Co-Op and Sodexho Campus Services.  For more information contact Juliet Berling at 607-777-3411 or email jberling@binghamton.edu.
