Philanthropist and President of the World Jewish Congress to receive honorary degree at Binghamton University

Businessman, philanthropist and World Jewish Congress President Edgar Bronfman will receive an honorary degree following a celebration of the Hillel community at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 17, in the Mandela room of the Binghamton University Union. 

Bronfman, recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, has secured justice for survivors of the Holocaust and worked towards easing tensions in Israel.  Bronfam is currently the Chairman of the International Board of Governors for Hillel, the Foundation for Jewish Campus Life, which under his leadership has experienced an expansion on campuses throughout North America including at Binghamton University.

Bronfman is also known in the business world as an instrumental force in establishing the Seagrams name as a powerhouse among distillers and has been recognized for his remarkable leadership by organizations, universities and governments around the world. 

Hillel President Avraham Infeld will join Bronfman at Wednesday’s ceremony, which will follow a luncheon celebrating the Hillel community.
