Binghamton University offers workshop on dealing with difficult people

Binghamton University’s Southern Tier Center for Compassionate Communication (STCCC) is offering a workshop on how to improve relationships at work and at home. The session, “Dealing with Difficult People,” will be offered at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at the Unitarian-Universalist Congregation, 183 Riverside Drive, Binghamton.

Trainers Martha Lasley and Jane Connor will demonstrate how a technique known as Nonviolent Communication (NVC) can be used to foster better relationships between people through peaceful conflict resolution. Lasley is an experienced trainer, facilitator and co-founder of Leadership that Works, a coaching firm that has clients from around the world. Connor is the founder of STCCC and has extensive experience as an NVC trainer.

A contribution of between $25 and $40 is requested, however, no one will be denied admission because of a lack of funds.

The STCCC was founded in 2003 to provide affordable training in NVC to residents of the Southern Tier to help address and resolve conflict. The center offers workshops on communication for couples, teachers, teen-agers, senior citizens, employers, workers and family members.  It also offers practice groups in which participants learn from each other and from printed and audio-video materials.

For more information or to register for the workshop, contact Verne de Bourg, STCCC executive director, at 607-760-6673, or Jane Connor at 607-777-2416.
