Workshop to offer tips on creating a drug-free workplace

The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will offer a free workshop at 9 a.m. Monday, September 15, to help identify and deter drug use in the workplace. The two-and-a-half hour workshop, co-hosted by the New York State University Police and Rapid Drug Test Systems, will be held in the SBDC classroom at 224 Water Street in downtown Binghamton.

Participants will learn about the most commonly abused drugs, drug testing procedures, liability issues and tips on how to handle personnel confrontations. The workshop will also feature an overview of the alcohol and drug rules mandated by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Drug Evaluation and Classification Program (DECP) regarding employees who drive vehicles requiring a commercial driver’s license.

For more information and to enroll for the program, contact the SBDC at 607-777-4024. Enrollment is limited.
