The NMRC offers innovative technologies for the design, digitization and editing of a variety of mediums, including 3D modeling and graphics. These technologies are constantly evaluated in the face of research and industry trends, Binghamton University needs, and faculty use.
The New Media Resource Center is well versed in the world of 3D Printing and Graphics, and continues to research the continuous advancements in the field. The center currently houses two Makerbot Replicator 2X 3D Printers. These run on ABS plastic and have created some of the models shown below.
The New Media Resource Center also maintains ongoing research into the field of 3D Graphics, using the technology of 3D scanning and modeling. The center uses a NextEngine 3D ScannerHD with ScanStudio Pro software. The NMRC also works with digital cameras to create a 3D object out of an array of 2D pictures with Autodesk's 123D Catch software.
The NMRC uses iPads, iPods, and the latest in mobile technology to deliver knowledge of applications available for these devices, and their utility in research and function.
