Hanyang University International Summer School Program: Costs

Costs for Exchange:

To learn about the program costs and related expenses for the faculty-led program, see the see the 2014 Hanyang University Summer Estimate of Costs.

What are the benefits of going on the faculty-led program?
For In-state students, faculty-led is the most inexpensive way to go on this program. Because students are taking part in the faculty-led program, they are given a half-tuition scholarship and their application & housing fees are also waived by Hanyang. The other support provided by the Office of International Programs includes a pre-departure orientation to prepare you for your time abroad, as well as international health insurance (included in your costs) and assistance transferring credits. Because faculty-led students are paying Binghamton tuition to take part in the program, the credits earned during the program are transferred back as Binghamton credits, can be used toward your major or minor and count in your GPA.

Why does Binghamton offer both faculty-led and direct enroll?
We understand that costs are a major deciding factor for whether or not a student can participate in a study abroad program. For that reason, we allow students to directly enroll in the Hanyang International Summer School program through the Hanyang website's online application because for out-of-state and international students, this is often the most inexpensive option. Direct enroll students are able to enroll in Binghamton faculty-taught courses, but credits earned abroad will be transferred back as transfer credits and students are responsible for getting credit approvals handled on their own. Direct enroll students are asked to please contact the program advisor (Celeste Lee – and inform her of which Binghamton faculty-taught course they plan on enrolling in by April 1st.

Financial Aid

Federal and New York State financial aid is generally applicable to study abroad programs. The Binghamton Office of Financial Aid Services is able to consider only the applications of students matriculated at Binghamton for degree study. Other SUNY and non-SUNY students should contact the financial aid office on the home campus for information about eligibility for all aid programs.

The Evelio Figueroa Memorial Scholarship supports students with financial need studying for the fall semester or academic year; the Rosefsky Scholarship supports students with financial need studying in the fall, spring or academic year. The Asia Scholarship, available through the Asian Asian-American Studies Department supports Binghamton students studying in Asia for 6 weeks or longer. Other national scholarships may be available as well. Please visit the Office of International Programs or go to our scholarships page for more information.
