Academic Features

The General Course is the name of the LSE program that enrolls international undergraduates for a full year as visiting students. Each participant works under the supervision of an LSE tutor from the department that best represents the major area of study. Mr. Mark Hoffman, Senior Tutor, directs the General Course; he coordinates arrangements for students on the program and offers wise counsel and doses of humor as needed.

Courses are available in the following fields:
Accounting and Finance
Operational Research
Economic History
Geography and Environment
Population Studies
Industrial Relations
Information Systems
Social Policy
International Relations
Social Psychology
Language Studies
International History
European Studies

Generally, a full course load is 4 year-long courses. General Course students may take any course for which they have completed necessary pre-requisites. Most students take two courses in the major and two elective courses. A complete list of courses offered recently at the LSE is available in the LSE Undergraduate Course Guide, available on the LSE website.
