East Drive Repaving
New curbing is in place and the contractor continues efforts to install a gas line. Side walk work is also underway.
This project affects East Drive from the intersection of Bartle Drive/Administration Building to the intersection with East Access Road/Mohawk. Work involves installing a new gas line, new walkways, speed tables, new road surface and landscaping. Parking lot R will be enlarged. Work is in progress and will take about five months to complete. We will work with the contractor to maintain pedestrian an vehicular traffic in the area.
Events Center Roof Replacement
The Events Center roof was damaged in a hail storm and is replaced this summer. Materials have arrived on site and work is underway and being coordinated with any events planned during the course of the project.
NAR Collegiate Center Mechanical Systems Renovation
This project involves a complete renovation of the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center mechanical/HVAC systems. Additional work includes new ceilings, flooring, lighting and painting. Three new classrooms will be added. Work will begin in June and is expected to be complete in March, 2015.
Science II Laboratory Renovations
Laboratories on the second floor of the chemistry wing of Science II will be renovated beginning Monday, May 19. A total of four labs will be renovated though only two will be taken off line at a time. Work involves asbestos abatement and demolition of existing facilities. New flooring, heating, ventilation, ceilings, power distribution, data, fume hoods and window repair and restoration is included in the scope of work. Completion is March, 2015.
Building Facade Repairs
Repairs are being made to building exteriors including the west side of Science II, Administration,Engineering Building, Library North and the McGuire building. Work includes patching, painting and washing.
Site Lighting Lots S2, S3 and Newman Bridge Walkway
New outdoor lighting will be installed in parking lots S1, S2 and the walkway to Newman Bridge. Work will be complete in summer 2014.
East Campus Housing Site Work
A variety of site work will take place in the Dickinson Community at East Campus Housing. Restoration of the co-rec field is planned. There will be some tree replacement along with walkway repair and replacement. Small, miscellaneous repairs will also take place in the buildings.
Flooring Replacements in Residential Halls
Flooring replacements will take place in certain areas of the following residential halls: Mohawk, Marcy, Cascade,Hunter, Hughes and Cleveland.
Hillside Re-shingling/Lightening Protection
Re-shingling and lighting protection will take place on buildings in the Hillside Community. The work will be complete by the end of the summer.
Door Replacements in CIW and Hinman
Door replacements will take place in CIW's Oneida, Seneca and Cayuga Halls. In Hinman, replacements will occur in Hughes, Smith and Roosevelt.
Dickinson Hall Renovation
Landscaping is underway at the Dickinson Hall project. Building testing and cleaning is also in progress. Furniture deliveries will begin at the end of July.
The project will transform the former dining hall into a student services center for the University. Offices for student accounts, the registrar, financial aid and admissions recruiting will be relocated there.
The project involves adding 13,000 square feet to the existing building, renovating existing space and installing new building mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
The project will be complete in summer 2014.
Old O'Connor/Johnson Renovation
Renovations at Old O'Connor Johnson are going well. Work is underway on a new connecting link. Ceiling grid is being installed with the first coats of paint appearing in Old Johnson. Tile in the rest rooms is also underway. Mechanical equipment such as chillers has been delivered and all the windows will arrive at the end of May. The elevator is also being installed.
Old O'Connor is slightly ahead of schedule with wall framing and rough electrical and plumbing going in.
Work on the connecting link is progressing with the foundation now set. Project photos and renderings can be seen here.
The buildings are being gutted and office space created in Old Johnson for Information Technology and Geography . Old O'Connor will house Advancement functions such as the Foundation and Alumni Affairs. An alumni lounge will also be created in this building. The University Counseling Center will also reside in Old O'Connor.
The project includes a connector between Old Johnson and Old O'Connor that will provide a common entry for both buildings. Work on Old Johnson and the connector is taking place first and due for completion in late 2014. Old O'Connor work is estimated to wrap up in 2015.
Old Whitney Hall Conversion
Demolition and asbestos abatement are complete and construction work is advancing on several fronts. Wall framing and dry wall are well underway along with runs for mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. New windows are being put in place.
The project entails constructing two classrooms in former lounge areas. Old dorm rooms will be converted into office space, testing labs and support space for the math department.
Work also involves code and energy updates and a new roof. Work will be complete in August 2014.
Old Champlain Conversion
Asbestos abatement is underway in Old Champlain where renovations will create two classrooms. Former residential rooms will be converted to surge office space. An elevator addition is also part of the project.
Anderson Center Deck/Reception Room Renovations
The Anderson Center reception room and deck is being renovated. The project includes a new deck, patio area and walkway in addition to interior upgrades. The project will be complete in summer, 2014.
