| Jennifer Jensen Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Science Ph.D., University of North Carolina Department of Political Science
Professor Jennifer Jensen's research focuses primarily on state politics and policy and organized interests. Her research has investigated states as interests before the federal government, and explored why some states establish lobbying offices in Washington, D.C. reaping significant benefits, while others do not. One current research project examines why some states have moved to Medicaid managed care programs, while others have chosen to maintain Medicaid programs within the traditional fee-for-service framework. A separate project explores the career choices of elite political actors, investigating how individuals balance personal goals with the professional and personal constraints that they face. Professor Jensen teaches courses on state and local government, organized interests, women and politics, and American political culture. Prior to joining the faculty at Binghamton, she served as an assistant professor at Bucknell University and the University at Albany, SUNY. She has worked in the U.S. House of Representatives and as a renewable energy lobbyist in Washington, D.C. |
