Road Map process moves forward

June 11, 2012

A final congratulations to the class of 2012! Since Commencement weekend, the Road Map process has made great strides. A Road Map Planning Committee has been formed and will be working throughout the summer and into next fall “behind the scenes.” Some of the progress made thus far:

Check back for new updates every few weeks to stay informed of the Road Map progress. I hope you’re enjoying the summer!

I’m thrilled to note that more than 300 people have volunteered to be a part of our Road Map teams that will help recommend and build specific initiatives to move Binghamton University toward being the premier public university of the 21st century. It’s this type of willingness to contribute and collaborate with others across campus that will be paramount to our success.

Over the next few weeks, I will organize the teams, announce their chairs and propose their charges. Then, in June, team memberships will be announced. Though you may have signed up to serve on more than one team, we are limiting each person to only one due to the volume of volunteers.

This summer, I will work with our Office of Institutional Research and Assessment to collect benchmarking data for each of the teams. I also will be researching the literature on higher education and post reading materials that you may find useful to review during the summer on the page. Other than this bit of reading, there are no summer work expectations for the teams. The work will begin with a kick-off meeting at the beginning of the fall semester.

I look forward to working with everyone on this project and to the continued success of Binghamton University.
