Alumni experts share perspectives on Big Data

On Nov. 19, the Alumni Association and Metro New York Chapter sponsored the event “Big Data: Opportunities, Challenges and Implications for Privacy” at the SUNY Global Center in Manhattan. This event was a networking opportunity for Binghamton graduates working in media, marketing and related fields. An accomplished group of alumni presented the many sides of big data during a panel discussion that was also simulcast online. Panelists were David Berkowitz ’00, chief marketing officer for MRY; Jonathan Espiritu ’03, senior corporate counsel for MediaMath; Eliot Hoff ’91, senior vice president at APCO Worldwide; and Lia Sheena ’06, senior privacy counsel for Nielsen. Alumni Association Vice President Gary Kibel ’90, MBA ’92, partner at Davis & Gilbert, LLP, was the moderator. More than 130 alumni viewed the panel discussion in person and online. The event is part of the Metro New York Chapter’s ongoing effort to create industry-specific educational and networking opportunities.
