Construction update

School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences

Demolition of three buildings on the site of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences was completed in early March. FAHS Construction Group was the low bidder and will be constructing the facility. Work on the 84,000 square-foot, four-story building and is expected to begin later this spring and open in fall 2018.

Renovations to Corliss Avenue Property in Johnson City

Initial cleanup and securing of 48 Corliss Avenue, a building adjacent to the site of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, is underway and currently involves debris removal. Building windows and doors will be secured. Asbestos abatement and some wall demolition will take place beginning around April. Design documents are being developed to restore the exterior of the building including masonry repairs and new windows. A new roof will also be installed. Design of interior space is underway. Plans call for the building to house the Decker School of Nursing along with other programs.

Smart Energy Research and Development Facility

Work to install glass into frames is underway and metal panels are being put in place on the penthouses of the Smart Energy Research and Development Facility. Brick detailing is being finished on the facility exterior. On the building interior concrete is being completed on lowest level. Tape and finishing is occurring on upper
levels and studs are being placed on the lowest level. Interior masonry work is underway and plumbing, heating, and electrical work is moving forward with the interior fit-out. Exterior site work is expected to accelerate as the weather improves. Construction will be complete in summer 2017.

Old Digman Renovations

Construction of stud walls in the basement is primarily complete and sheetrock installation in bathrooms is continuing. Taping and priming has started in rooms in the north wing. Window sill blocking is finished on the north wing and continues on the east wing. Preparations are being made for window abatement to begin. Work on pumps and piping by the mechanical contractor is progressing in the boiler room in preparation for a boiler delivery in March. The plumbing contractor is continuing installation of water and sanitary piping in the north wing and the electrical contractor is performing rough in work and running branch wire in the north wing. Work will be complete for the fall 2016 semester.

Globalization Center/Old Champlain Conversion

Harpur advising moved into previously renovated space in Old Champlain in January. Bids for construction of a 2,000 square foot entry vestibule/multi-purpose room are expected at the end of March with work anticipated to begin in early May. Interior renovations are expected to be completed in July and work on the addition will wrap up early next year.

Lecture Hall Student Wing Renovations

Work on the second floor of the Lecture Hall Student Wing is wrapping up. Finishing work is progressing on the first floor and basement levels and plans for furnishing the spaces are being reviewed and finalized.

Central Heating Plant Upgrades

Work began in early March to make upgrades to the Central Heating Plant. A parking lot adjacent to the plant has been closed to provide room for contractor supplies and equipment. The project will provide new pollution control equipment, upgraded electrical service and interior office alterations. Work will be complete in spring 2017.
