EOP $1M campaign for Book Fund Endowment launched

Binghamton’s Educational Opportunity Program continues its mission to support the access and success of financially disadvantaged students from New York state. In the past year, the University has grown program enrollment yet again, and added the opportunity for students interested in STEM disciplines to earn four chemistry credits during the summer program. Perhaps most importantly, under the leadership of the EOP Alumni Council and EOP Director Calvin Gantt, a campaign to raise $1 million to endow the EOP Book Fund was launched this quarter.

The book fund will aid EOP students with the cost of textbooks, an expense that EOP grants do not fully cover. The campaign formally launched in New York City in January, during Binghamton in the City Week. More than 45 EOP alumni attended the launch, pledged support and stayed to mentor the students who attended. Over the next two years, EOP will work in concert with University Advancement staff to meet the $1 million goal.
