Donors make opportunities, enhancements possible

•  The Events Center concourse has a new look, thanks to support from members of the Tau Alpha Upsilon Alumni Society. The enhancements include Hall of Fame plaques, which were redesigned and moved from West Gym; historical timeline of Binghamton athletic accomplishments; and a Celebrating Excellence wall that lists our All-American athletes.

Dr. Geoffrey (Gerrry) Epstein ’89 and Justin Joseph ’05, MBA ’06, led this initiative, made possible with charitable gifts from approximately 100 TAU alumni. The concourse also features a new TAU donor wall that recognizes all of the supporters’ generosity.

A dedication ceremony will take place when TAU alumni return to campus to celebrate the group’s 55th anniversary April 15-17.

•  Harpur College supporters are answering the call to establish a Harpur College Advocacy Council Faculty Research Grant, the college’s first endowed faculty research grant that is not tied to a specific department. The grant will give faculty in departments across Harpur essential resources and opportunities to advance their research and ultimately share their newfound knowledge with our campus community and the world.

•  The Division of Advancement is using crowdfunding as a tool to raise support for the Educational Opportunity Program Book Endowment.

Contributions to the endowment will help Binghamton EOP students buy textbooks and other required course materials. Staff will also use funding from the endowment to purchase textbooks for the EOP Tutoring Center for students to share as needed.
