Alumni Global Day of Service

The Alumni Association held its second annual Alumni Global Day of Service during the weekend of April 15-17. This event was both local – as alumni could engage in service projects close to home – and global – as projects took place across the world. Nearly 900 alumni volunteered at a total of more than 60 project sites in 12 states and three countries (U.S., Taiwan and Turkey). Alumni who were not located near a group project had the ability to engage in independent service that would be counted in the effort. Alumni Global Day of Service was introduced in 2015 as a means to engage alumni with each other and demonstrate the collective power of volunteerism. The inaugural effort attracted 420 volunteers, so the 2016 event was a tremendous increase in engagement. The next Alumni Global Day of Service will take place in the spring of 2017.
