Healthy Campus Summit

Binghamton University celebrated its Healthy Campus Initiative by hosting their first Healthy Campus Summit on Oct. 5! Noted for the 2015 SUNY Outstanding Student Affairs Program and the 2015-16 NASPA Excellence Award Bronze Certificate in Student Health, Wellness and Related, Binghamton University has been named one of the Top 25 Healthiest Colleges for the past two years!

Keynote speaker Megan Amaya, president-elect of BHAC, provided a presentation on creating and sustaining cultures of wellness in an academic setting. Additional topics included research on adolescent and college drinking, the role of wellness in promoting academic success, the state of Binghamton’s students’ health according to the American College Health Association’s NCHA survey data, engaging students in wellness, a session on employee wellness given by members of Ithaca College’s Wellness Program, “Mind, Body, Me” and a student involvement fair!

The University president proclaimed October to be the ACSM’s Exercise is Medicine On-Campus month. Binghamton’s involvement in the Partnership for a Healthier America initiative was also highlighted. It was an energetic, learning-based and fun-filled day!
