Harpur College dean search underway

The search committee charged with finding the next Harpur College of Arts and Sciences dean has met three times this semester and is working with a search firm to develop a diverse pool of outstanding candidates, according to Executive Vice President and Provost Donald Nieman.

“Members have met and the position has been advertised,” Nieman said. “It’s expected that the committee will screen candidates in late January, then conduct preliminary interviews via teleconference with 10 to 12 semifinalists in early February.

Nieman expects three or four candidates will come to campus in late February for interviews and open sessions.

“The process will remain confidential until finalist candidates come to campus,” Nieman said. “When on campus, the process will open up, with open forums for candidates to present their views and meet with stakeholders at all levels. There will be plenty of opportunities for the campus community to weigh in and provide feedback to the committee and to me.”
