Union renovation under way

At the end of the spring 2012 semester, portions of the University Union were closed for renovation. Over the next two years, the affected spaces – at the northeast end of the building – will be renovated to include a new Career Development Center as well as expanded space for the Center for Civic Engagement and a state-of-the-art tutorial center.

The renovation will also provide an entrance atrium and gathering area, and the Marketplace, which will provide expanded seating, entertainment and food service options to the campus community. We are actively working with our food service provider, Sodexo Campus Services, to create alternative food service options during construction. While there are always challenges associated with renovating existing space, we are excited at the prospect of new and improved spaces for several programs and the anticipated opening of the Marketplace which will provide Binghamton with a gathering space very different than anything we’ve had before.
