Assistant provost for admissions hired

Townsend Plant has been appointed assistant provost for admissions. Plant has been director of admissions and financial aid for the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, Bloomington since 2008, and was director of admissions for the Ithaca College School of Music for seven years prior to that. In his new position as chief admissions officer at Binghamton, Plant will lead more than 30 operations and recruitment staff and be responsible for developing and implementing strategies and leading operations to meet the University’s new student enrollment goals. He began his duties at Binghamton on Monday, Sept. 24 and will partner with Sandra Starke, vice provost for enrollment management, to allow Binghamton to grow by 500 students per year while continuing to recruit an academically excellent and diverse student body.
