SUNY BEST, the SUNY Business and Education Cooperative, is a volunteer group composed of senior staff members from key economic and educational institutions in the Southern Tier, facilitated by Thomas Kowalik, director of Binghamton University’s Office of Continuing Education & Outreach. The group works to forge strong alliances, address industry specific needs and provide information and outreach for business. SUNY BEST also seeks to explore and support the business community workforce needs for traditional and emerging industry clusters such as nanotechnology, biotechnology, energy, photonics, energy conservation and renewal.
SUNY BEST has been so successful in the Southern Tier that it is being replicated in the five-county Mohawk Valley region. The announcement was made by SUNY vice chancellor for financial services and CFO Brian Hutzley at a SUNY BEST meeting in Binghamton in early December.
