Business Affairs leads SUNY Shared Service Collection Agency procurement effort

University departments in Business Affairs (purchasing, student accounts and revenue accounting) worked in partnership with four other SUNY campuses to procure and implement a shared services contractual agreement for collection services with Mercantile Adjustment Bureau LLC. The Binghamton University Purchasing Department and Student Accounts Office coordinated and led the five-campus Request for Proposal process that included SUNY IT, Morrisville, Cortland and Delhi.

Revenue Accounting participated with Student Accounts to implement the service by authorizing ACH payment from Mercantile to the University’s bank account, establishing process flow, setting up new Banner detail codes to support the required accounting, facilitating the necessary script changes and testing the new process before sending to Mercantile.

These efforts were undertaken in support of both SUNY’s strategic sourcing focus on collaboration between campuses and the Binghamton University Road Map initiative to optimize the acquisition and allocation of human, technological, financial and physical resources.
